Summary
On April 20, 2004, a caravan of vehicles carrying both crew and equipment began a journey across the United States into Baja California to hold a Sub Aviators Society flight school session at Puerto Escondido, as well as give dives in conjunction with Mexico Desconocido.

The remainder of the crew flew out to Puerto Escondido early in order to set up operations and beach camp prior to any flight school periods, as well as handle accomodations for incoming pilots.

The pilots that went down in the submersible included both those who were new to the Aviator experience, as well as those who had attended flight school previously.

At the end of the month, dives were given to the staff of Mexico Desconocido, a journalistic project that is dedicated to uncovering the natural unknown of Mexico for public knowledge.

Dates
April 26 - May 30, 2004

Puerto Escondido, a boat harbor on the Sea of Cortez (15 miles south of Loreto, Baja California Sur).

Crew
The crew is a vital part of any expedition.  They help with every aspect of the sub and then some.  They assist in preparations, launches, recoveries and maintenance.  We couldn't do any of it without them!  On this expedition the crew consisted of:

  • Dave Harper, Crew Chief
  • Rob Hutchison, Safety Diver & Sub Handler
  • Fred McLaren, Pilot
  • John Jo Lewis, Pilot
  • Marcus Eakers, video
  • Wendy Reynolds, topside photography
  • Jay Wade, underwater photography
